CP#3

I stumbled across this challenge blog today....I couldn't resist playing! :) You're welcome to join the fun CP#3.Here's my interpretation....... TFL!!

Details

The heart and key are from an old SU set (Antique Collectibles) I may have used it one time. I decided it would work with this paper from K & Company. The heart and key are heat embossed, cut out and colored in with markers. The bow on the heart is paper pieced. Some stitching, sewing, and sponging added to the antique look. The sentiment and flourish are from an embellishment pack. I also, used the only fiskars punch I own to create the border. I may end up wearing it out before I get a different border punch! :) I guess I should make buying a new one a priority! The ribbon is Wright's. I like to buy it by the yard. The texture is amazing. To keep it from fraying I add a small amout of clear paper glaze to the edges. The brown, velvet lacy ribbon is also bought by the yard. I bought it at Hobby Lobby.

A Quintuplet Challenge~Cuttlebug Challenge (mellow yellow), Pink Elephant (bling), Timeless Tuesday (flowers), Cuttlebug Spot (bling), Sketch This

WOW! What a workout!!!!! I didn't think I could do it. At first, it wasn't my original plan to combine all of them into one card. Now that it's done. I'm glad it worked out that way!! I bought the large Damask stamp at HL yesterday on clearance! I was SOOOO excited to get it so cheap! They're the rage right now ya know!! :D I stamped the damask flourish in yellow and heat embossed it. The grey PP is Martha Stewart that was on clearance after Christmas. I colored in some of the design with a yellow SU marker to give it a little more depth. The large scallops were punched from a 1 3/8 circle punch. I simply layered them behind the grey panel and stitched over it. That also helps hold them in place.

To fit the CBC I ran a small part of the left side of the card through the CB using the Swiss Dots folder. I think I use the Swiss Dots more than any other CB folder!! I LOVE the versatility of it!

The bird is a rub-on. It's on yellow card stock. The prima is one I've had in my stash for a long time!! I just added a rhinestone the center of it. The "dream" sentiment and flourished border are from the same rub-on pack as the bird. I think that about covers it! :D TSMFL!!

WT206 SCS Ways to use it

This is a super easy monogram card! I used Creating Keepsakes paper, Wright's Ribbon, foof-a-la buttons, rhinestones, CB, SU scalloped punch, 1 3/8 circle punch, rub-on and a Martha Stewart butterfly punch. This card takes only a few minutes to create. I plan to be back later with more projects. I got some new goodies yesterday. Can't wait to dig into them! :D

2sketches4you #20

Hi, to all my bloggy buds!! :) I hope you all are having a wonderful week!! DH has been home (he's a sweetie). So, my schedule has been a little different. Here's a card I managed to squeeze in..... If you would like to play too. Here is the LINK

I've been digging deeper into my SB stash and came across this Foof-a-la SB kit. SB kits are WONDERFUL for card making! Especially, if you don't like to stamp a lot. I love to stamp but don't always have the right stamp. That's when I pull out the SB'ing stuff . I can usually find an embellishment, rub-on, prima or sticker to make me happy! So, this card was created with the SB kit. Minus, the CS, buttons and ribbon.

The apple embellishment was hand drawn (as you can probably tell, I'm NOT an artist!) I ran it through the CB and added twine for the stem. The leaf was drawn by my almost 8 yr old DD (she is a budding artist, she LOVES to draw and is very good at it!) She even impresses her art teacher at school! :) I can see her growing up and becoming a book illustrator or comic writer. In her free time, you will usually find her drawing. Ok, enough tooting!

~2sketches4you #19 , FTTC#2 (buttons), SWEET CAKES

My daughters are getting ready to have a Valentines' Day party and sleep over tomorrow. So, I've baked several dozen cupcakes today. That may be why I've got cupcakes on the brain!! :D What is it about cupcakes that are so enticingly cute!? To me, Cupcakes cards are among the most fun to create! I had a FABULOUS time with this one!! It was a little time consuming cutting out and piecing all the cupcakes together. The pieces are very tiny and hard to hold onto!

The cupcakes were stamped directly onto the CS and then stamped again on Patterned Paper . I cut the cupcakes out of the Patterned Paper and adhered them to the stamped CS image with tiny pop dots. The tray was stamped and cut out the same way. The buttons are simply stuck together with glue dots. I added twine to the heart button. TSMFL!! Have a GREAT evening!! ~Lori

Monday Feb. 9 2009 CPS Sketch Challenge

After all of our frigid, cold weather...I'm ready for SUMMER!! Summer is one of my favorite seasons!! I enjoy sitting outside on the front porch swing, listening to the sounds of summer. Two sounds that quickly come to mind are....Birds chirping and lawn mowers. Honestly, I enjoy both! Ok, ok, enough chatter!! :)

I have fallen in love with this paper. The paper is from a CK scrapbook kit ( I bought it on sale for practically nothing!!). I have used it SO many times! One thing that's great about it is.... It's quite versatile and CUTE!!

First, I started out with a mostly square card and rounded the edges. From there I created the large circle with my Martha Stewart circle system (bought at wal-mart for around $15.00). Next, I layered the scalloped nestie circle sponged and added the ribbon. Now for the tricky part. The ice cream cone was an embellishment that I had to enlarge about 3 times to get the desired size I needed for the card. I then, simply traced the enlarged pattern onto my PP and than cut it out twice and adhered it. To top it off, I added some stitching and sponging. TFL!! ~Lori

Sat. Feb. 7, 2009 Paper Trey Sketch Puzzle Challenge

Paper Trey has a ton of challenges going on right now.......A relative of mine has won two of their challenges today!! How cool is that!!?? This one appealed to me today. It's a sketch you have to print out and connect the dots to complete the sketch. I had a blast making this card! The sketch really got my creative juices flowing! :D You can play along too!! HERE The tree washed out in the photo but I think you may still be able to see that I added micro beads to the flourishes. IRL the tree looks super cute!! :D I used a foof-a-la scrapbook kit to create this card and the stamp is actually a holiday stamp from wal-mart that I got on clearance after Christmas. The ribbon is from HL and it's bought by the yard ribbon. I love to buy ribbon by the yard. The variety you can get for the $ is amazing! TSMFL!! Tues. Feb. 3, 2009 HOUSEFUL of WISHES FTCC1

Today I decided to create a card with a build-a-house scene. It was a learning experience for me! A little trial and error goes a long way! :) The card kind of evolved as I went along. I didn't have a l/o in mind so it took longer than I would've liked! This also fits the Flourishes FTCC1. I started with a smaller piece of CS. For the house frame and roof. I cut the CS and layered the PP on the cut CS. The window base is PP cut in a small square and the panes are also small pieces of PP. The door and chimney are another small piece of PP. I added rhinestones and flower rub-ons to complete the house. The tree trunk is a piece of CS that I ran through the CB. For the tree top, I used a nestabilities scalloped circle and then ran it through the CB. I added a sentiment and bird to the tree top. It's easy to recreate, but time consuming due to all the pieces and layers that have to be cut.

Monday Feb. 2, 2009 1st OCC Challenge and Dog Gone stamps TONS of LOVE

I recently became a DT member for Dog Gone stamps. This elephant and love sentiment are just a couple of stamps she sent my way. My daughter loved the elephant image! I'll be adding more Dog Gone stamp projects for the next 6 months. So, you'll be seeing more playful and fun images.
Today is a milestone for me. I'm a first timer at MOJO MONDAY and OCC. (I have links in my sidebar). This card is for OCC. The challenge is to use more than two hearts on your project. Since I love Valentine cards. This was fun and easy breezy! :D TFL! Have a great evening!! ~Lori

This morning I was sharing some love over at Teresa's blog. I spotted her Mojo Monday challenge card and it inspired me to play along today. Not to mention, I received some new rubber today from the great ladies at CCEE. The brand is Rubber Soul! It's a set of approx. fifteen stamps. Of course, I had to use the new rubber!!
At first, this looked like a pretty quick card to create. Once I got started. I found out differently! Although, it looks fast and easy. It isn't! All in all, it's a great sketch. I think I'd make another one?! :D

SIMPLY SWEET #LSC205

Over at SCS, today's challenge was to create a CAS (clean and simple card). Here's my simple creation....

The card base is whisper white. White usually generates a clean and simple look to cards. The PP is a Creating Keepsakes (ALL IN ONE KIT). Instead of using stamps. I decided to use rub-ons. Rub-ons are so fun and easy to use! The butterfly was punched in two different types of PP. I taped one of them to the card and the other one is adhered to it. Also, I ran the butterflies through the CB. I added twine instead of ribbon and a few brads. I hope this fits the simplicity bill! :D Have a great weekend!!

Fri. Jan. 30, 2009 Winter Storm Update

Yipee! We got our electric back on yesterday around 1:00 pm! What a relief!! I'm glad it was only for a couple days! Not everyone will be so fortunate! Thankfully, a friend of ours that lives in our community works for the electric company. He works on the power lines so we get A-1 service!! :D We are grateful for good friends! Here's a couple photos. Although, they don't capture an ounce of the sparkling beauty we are experiencing right now! It's breath taking!!

This is on our front walkway. I haven't measured....But there's a lot of snow piled up there!

I used a foof-fa-la kit on this card and an autumn leaves bird stamp. I added some pearls, little primas, lace ribbon, lots of cuttlebugging, and a fiskars lace punch edge. Today's challenge at SCS was to create a card using pleats. Here's what I came up with. Thanks for stopping by!! :D

I had fun creating these two cards! They measure 4 x 4 and 4 x 3 1/4 . I Cuttlebugged parts of the cards before adding anything else. I like the dimension and texture the CB adds to a card! I paper pieced the bird in two different kinds of paper. For the most part, I think the rest is fairly self explanatory. :D

Monday, Jan. 26, 2009 CCEE Valentine Treat Bag

Here's another Valentine treat for you. They are so simple and inexpensive to make! I simply cut the top half of a regular sized, white gift bag. Stamped the polka dots on it. I cut out the hearts by hand with scalloped scissors and ran some of them through the cuttle bug. The hearts are adhered with pop dots. The handle is a small strip of white Card stock stamped with the dots And simply adhered with a tape runner. I added a little bow just to sweeten it up a little bit! :D

My mother will love this......she needs an inexpensive Valentine treat for a church function. I think this will be perfect!

Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 Monkey Fun (2sketches4u) #18

I have to take my girls to a birthday party...So, I'll be adding details later. Finally..... Here's some deets. This FUN summery card is a little out of my comfort zone! It took me awhile to figure out how I wanted to incorporate all the elements together to create a tropical theme.

I had just bought this new Autumn Leaves (Mindy's Zoo) set and wanted to try it out. As I looked at the sketch. The idea to use the Palms hit me. I stamped them in brown Stazon, colored them with a blender pen and stampin' pastel chalks. Cut them out. Then added brads for the coconuts. Somewhere in that same thought process. The idea to use raffia ribbon to create the side panel emerged. To do that. I cut a piece of CS and applied red sticky tape vertically to the CS. Next I cut and added small pieces of raffia ribbon pressing it down firmly to ensure that it didn't fall off. I then trimmed the edges to fit. To add extra texture to the raffia panel. The sewing machine came in handy. I straight stitched over the panel. I made three straight vertical stitches. The raffia below the monkey was adhered the same way minus the stitching. Mr. Monkey was colored with blender pens and pastel chalks. I cut him out and hung from the palm tree. The buttons were added last. Raffia ribbon is threaded through the buttons.

Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009 XO Valentine

I'm sure none of you are surprised to see that I've made another Valentine's Day card. The colors just jump out at me and are SO easy to work with !!! And since I'm mostly a girlie girl sort of girl :) .....These kind of cards are usually what my girlie girl side wants to create!!

Details..... Cut brown CS and run through CB. Cut red CS smaller than the brown and layer the Bella Rose DP onto the red. Adhere to card base with pop dots. Cut another piece of red CS smaller than the existing bella rose DP. Cut polka dot DP to fit the red CS. Adhere and add to card using pop dots. Cut small square panel from red CS and cut pink DP to fit. Add the ribbon and adhere square panel. To make the hearts. Fold the white CS and cut out the heart starting on the fold line using scalloped scissors. Run through CB. Repeat making the second heart smaller. Stamp sentiment cut out using word window punch. Adhere with pop dots. Cut a small heart add a brad to the center and adhere over sentiment with pop dot. Adhere buttons. Punch out centers with circle punches and adhere. Make a corner tab run through CB and adhere.

This card is doing DOUBLE DUTY! I made this using 2sketches4u l/o's and altered them to fit today's WT202 challenge at SCS today (customizing DP).
I had a difficult getting the light colors of this card to show up . The tones in the photo are very weak! This card was

fairly quick and simple to make!!

Directions:

1. Cut Cardstock. This card is 5 1/2 by 5 1/2.

2. Run card base through CB. Cut and punch lace border before adding trimmed DP. Adhere trimmed rose DP and slide lace border behind rose DP.

3. Punch 5 butterflies. Sponge, add pearl and adhere.

4. Use the medium oval nestabilites die cut with the white cardstock. One punched out. Run it through the CB. Use the next oval in size with the bella rose DP . Adhere to card using pop dots.

5. Cut the largest rose out of the Bella Rose DP and add layers by cutting out the layers of the other roses and adhereing them to the first rose that was cut out. Sponge edges. Apply stickles. Adhere to oval using pop dots.

6. Embellish with bow. Add pearls to card base.

I am known for being hard to get IN bed at night and hard to get OUT of bed in the morning! I inherited that trait from my grandmother. (See, I can't help it)

I love sweets! Chocolate, of any size, texture or color! Cookies, chewy candy, pastries, candy corn, ice cream, etc., etc., (get the idea)?! :D

My Mother and I are great friends! We share an awesome relationship.

I'm currently getting addicted to Mario Bros. on my daughters DS (help!!! All I don't need is ANOTHER addiction)! LOL !!

We have a 2 yr. old boxer named Duke. Our children love having a house pet!

Last but not least, I have a personal relationship with the Lord! He is a part of my life everyday!

Jan. 20, 2009~ FLOWERED THANKS CC202

This sweet little flower card was made for today's Color Challenge found here . You are welcome to play along! :)

I decided to go shabby chic with this one! I added a lot of machine stitching, PP and CBing to add a lot of texture and detail.

The flower is stamped twice. Once on white CS and again on the PP . I then cut out flower stamped on the PP and adhered to flower stamped on the white CS.

The large scallops are nestabilities (which I lOVE). I ran them through the CB to add texture.

I found these adorable brads at the grocery store. I HAD to take them home with me!! I stamped and sponged the images and sentiment with Bravo Burgandy ink.

Friday 16, 2009 Valentine Combo

I had a blast making this little combo!! It's simply a tin I bought at Hobby Lobby for 1.50. I added valentine rub-ons. Some ribbbon. Put some paper shreds on the inside and made a super simple card to match. This combo could be used for several things! I have more blank ones I plan to decorate and add later!!

Friday, 16 2009 Framed Fruit

I went nestabilities crazy with this card! :D Wow! I LOVEem'!!! They are so easy to use and have such a beautiful crisp finish!! Now for a few details.........

Card Front.....Not a lot of frou frou on this one

Inside of card........I tried to carry the front of the card through to the inside.

Upclose of card front.....

I basically made a frame using the nestabilities and added smaller ones to the center. I ran all the cut outs throught the CB and adhered them with pop dots. I colored the Fruit Stand stamp with chalk and a blender pen. I cut it out and adhered it with pop dots. Added some piercing and then added some of the same details to the inside of the card.
